PV fed SEPIC converter for BLDC motor based water pump application
A PV fed SEPIC converter is an attractive choice for powering a BLDC motor based water pump, as it provides increased efficiency by converting the DC voltage generated from the PV module to match the varying input supply. This converter also has the advantage of being able to operate in buck mode, thus freeing up excess solar energy and preventing overcharging when the output load exceeds its operating range. Also, with a SEPIC configuration, voltage ripple at higher input levels can be minimized and stored power can be used when system demand exceeds supply from the photovoltaic array. Additionally, as compared to other topologies such as flyback or buck-boost converters, this topology offers greater flexibility in terms of input current requirements and output voltage ranges which is advantageous for running water pumps.
