30 MW Grid-Connected PV System with P&O MPPT – MATLAB/Simulink Model
The 30 MW Grid-Connected PV System is a complete utility-scale solar power simulation package developed in MATLAB/Simulink. It accurately models the behaviour of a large photovoltaic plant operating under dynamic environmental conditions. The system integrates a 30 MW PV array, a boost converter, and a three-phase grid-tied inverter connected to an 11 kV utility grid, ensuring realistic representation of large-scale solar integration.
A Perturb and Observe (P&O) MPPT algorithm is implemented to extract maximum power under varying irradiation levels. The inverter uses dq-axis current control and a PI-regulated 20 kV DC-link, ensuring smooth real-power injection into the grid with excellent stability. The model demonstrates high-quality grid output with Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of approximately 0.8%, making it ideal for power quality and control studies.
This complete simulation package is suitable for research scholars, engineers, educators, and anyone working on solar grid integration, MPPT algorithms, or inverter control strategies.
